Bookends Postgraduate Conference 2010

 Transgressions

 Monday May 31st and Tuesday June 1st

Time: TBC

 “Bookends” is an annual conference which is run by postgraduate students in the School of English.

Papers/posters are invited that reflect upon the theme of transgressions in literary and cinematic texts. The subject of papers/ posters can include but are not limited to:

  • Social and political movements
  • Gender and Sexuality
  • Textual history
  • Narrative (textual, visual, structural)
  • Literature, culture and the arts
  • Reconstructing culture and identity
  • Canon formation and exclusion
  • Intertextuality / Interdisciplinary
  • Literary theory
  • Historical interpretation and periodisation
  • Time and Space
  • Genre

 Papers must be 15 minutes in length (2,500 words approx.) and there will be 10 minutes for discussion at the end of each panel. Posters will be presented informally throughout the conference.

Abstracts and titles for both posters and papers to be submitted by Friday 7th of May 2010 to UCCBookends@gmail.com
